Identity

Sanford was a steamboat and citrus port before it was a suburb, and the downtown still shows it: two-storey brick blocks, a marina and a waterfront park. Around that core sit older neighbourhoods and newer subdivisions to the south and east.

Location and access

North Seminole County on Lake Monroe and the St. Johns River, at the north end of the SunRail line.

Everyday life

Downtown dining and the riverwalk anchor evenings; the airport and I-4 handle travel.

  • The Central Florida Zoo, nearby.

Housing

  • Historic homes in the downtown districts.
  • Mid-century neighbourhoods across the city.
